A leader is someone who leads others. But what makes someone a leader? Contrary to what you might believe, there are identifiable leadership traits and qualities that a person can develop –through leadership training—to become a leader. Leaders see the big picture. They are able to quickly identify a problem that needs to be fixed or a goal that needs to be achieved. Whatever it is, it is the focus of the leaders attention and they become determined to conquer it, utilizing a variety of resources and tools to do so.
It is not enough to simply be able to see the big picture. Lots of people see things that could be changed for the better, problems that should be fixed, and innovations that could revolutionize the organization. What makes leaders different is that they actually go out
and do those things. They take the steps to make their vision happen.
There are as many traits of a leader. A leader has integrity. People have to believe that you are motivated because it is something you believe in, not just because you are power hungry. A leader knows how to build relationships with people. He/she knows and utilizes the individual differences of his team members and is able to guide them to achieve the goal. A leader is optimistic. A leader uses positive reinforcement and rewards to motivate his/her
staff, and knows that negativity will harm the overall mission.
Leaders also go out of their way to receive the necessary leadership training they need to manage their team. This includes learning how to manage their time, how to resolve conflicts, how to utilize peoples’ skills, project planning, and what it means to reach a goal.
They refuse to let anyone or anything get in the way of achieving their aspirations. They are realistic and assertive. They are polite, but are focused on the bottom line. Leadership training will help you as a new leader to plan and execute your goals.
